New Readers
Description
We recommend ensuring your child can read well before commencing these books. If your child is not yet a proficient reader, please complete the Reading Skills component of the kindergarten curriculum as a prerequisite.
This series of books is designed to help young children transition to reading independently. Selections consist of easy chapter books and even comics, as the priority at this level is to establish the habit of reading books for enjoyment.
Most of the books are part of a series. When you find one that your child especially enjoys, we recommend procuring the rest of the series whenever possible. Easy series books are an effective way to help young readers gain confidence in reading independently.
These books are designed to be read independently by your child. In the beginning, you may have your child read aloud to you and help with any difficult words. When your child is able to read without frequent help, he or she should transition to reading the books alone.
