About
This wonderful older book about finding the constellations and introductory astronomy was written by the author of Curious George. It is approachable for elementary grade children, but substantial enough to use as a field guide for beginning stargazing.
Try to find some of the constellations depicted in the book. (The middle school Earth & Space Science Level 2 course has a more substantial stargazing lab component.)
Note that the author wrote two similar books on stargazing, this one (160 pages) and a simplified version for younger children called Find the Constellations (72 pages, www.greatbookshomeschool.com/book/find-the-constellations). You can view samples of both on Amazon; choose whichever is a better fit for your child's reading level.
