This is the first in Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a funny, action-packed series about a boy who finds out he is the son of one of the ancient Greek gods.
There are five books in the series, all well worth reading. So far this is the only one that is illustrated.
If your child enjoys these books, you might also try the other Rick Riordan series, especially The Kane Chronicles (ancient Egyptian mythology) and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard (Norse mythology).
