Breaking the Barrier is a comprehensive language program for middle and high-school students. Unlike the Calico Spanish program which is targeted at young children, this program systematically explains grammar and uses written tests as well as oral exercises. They also offer an option to schedule live conversation practice with native speakers.

Each level is designed to be the equivalent of one year of high school Spanish. (When using for middle school, they recommend completing one level over the course of two years.) We suggest starting at the first level even if you have completed the Calico Spanish program, as it contains grammar study not included in Calico Spanish.
