Don Quixote is considered the first modern European novel and is a great read in its own right. Part 2 of the book was published ten years after Part 1, and due to its length is not required for this course.
Advanced Spanish students may read the unabridged Spanish version of the book. Otherwise, the translation by Edith Grossman is a good choice.
