Treehouse is one of the most up-to-date and user-friendly ways to learn how to program. A monthly subscription currently costs $25, and they may offer a homeschooling student discount if you email them to request it.
This course introduces the basics of Android app development using the Java programming language. Students will build two simple apps during the course. No special equipment or software is needed other than a computer and internet connection.
The course includes 10 hours worth of video lectures and quizzes. At a rate of three hours per week, it can be completed in less than a month.
